๐ŸŠ It happens.... ๐ŸŠโ
โ
๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ The dreaded O-word. {orange} The one that we avoid a all costs!โ
There are multiple reasons your sunless tan may develop UNNATURALLY - let's talk about how it happens:ย

โŒ Requesting to be too dark for your skin toneโ  โŒ Not being honest in your consultation with your spray tan artistโ

  • These two essentially go hand in hand. Yes, sunless is meant to help you achieve a year round brown, but some skin tones can only get *so dark*. Putting a super dark color on a skin tone that doesn't typically tan well can almost be guaranteed to end up unnatural. Remember: your artist has been thoroughly trained to ask certain questions in order to achieve the perfect color for you, your skin tone, lifestyle, events, etc. Not being totally honest with us can create a color you don't enjoy, so don't hold back - the more we know the better we can serve you!ย

โŒ Not preparing for your sunless application properlyโ

  • Your results are reliant on your prep and care of your tan.ย  Not preparing as instructed (or caring for your tan with suggested products) can open the door to not so great color, uneven color or your tan not lasting as long as it should.ย

โŒ Leaving your solution on longer than directedโ

  • We've all done it: we think, "oh, if I leave it on longer, the better it will be!" Am I right?? That is WRONG. Leaving your solution on longer than directed can dry out your skin, or worse, develop to a color that doesn't mesh with what you wanted!

โŒ Using low-quality productsโ

  • The only way I can describe this: Using suggested sunless safe products are your insurance policy for your tan. You wouldn't buy a luxury car without insuring it, would you? So why invest in a gorgeous tan and not insure that?ย

โŒ Hormonesโ

  • This one is tough. Hormones absolutely play a part in the way your tan develops. Whether you're pregnant, nursing, or just on your ovulating / on your period, your skin can become more dry than normal (hence not lasting as long), or just decide it wants to develop a little wonky, color wise. The hard part is, you never know when or if your skin will react undesirably. Couple things you can do: Be EXTRA diligent about your prep and drinking water pre (and during) your tan. Consider forgoing the tan - and use a gradual tanning lotion instead. Know there's always a slight chance of things not turning out normal, and be prepared & knowledgable on how to adjust if needed!ย
